Italian language courses
I love the language, that soft bastard Latin,
Which melts like kisses from a female mouth,
And sounds as if it should be writ on satin,
With syllables which breathe of the sweet South,
And gentle liquids gliding all so pat in,
That not a single accent seems uncouth […]

Our courses of Italian focus on the learner and the knowledge and language skills previouly acquired. What we aim at is that students attending our Italian classes should learn to express themselves correctly and effectively and be able to interact with Italians in every type of communication and cultural context.
Our main concern is the students’ satisfaction and their maximum progress. This is why we have chosen a flexible class design which enables us to meet more effectively the needs and requirements of the diverse groups and of the individual in a group.
The small class size (4/5 students on average, and a maximum of 8) allows the teacher to monitor participants with particular care, and guarantees each student individual attention and an active participation in the learning process.
The first day of the course at Culturforum students are first welcomed by the director and the staff and soon afterwards take a preliminary test (a written grammar test and an interview) to identify their general knowledge and the specific area of language they need to improve and determine the appropriate level of their Italian course.
Classes are held in the mornings from Monday to Friday. The afternoons are free for students to take part in excursions and free time activities organised by our language school, socialise or enjoy the town.
Preparation for the university exams in Italian as a foreign language (CILS; CELI) is also available. At the end of the course students receive a Certificate of Attendance. Each one-hour lesson runs for 60 minutes.
The school is open throughout the year and it is possible to start a new course on every Monday except absolute beginner courses (please refer to Starting Dates).
NB: in groups with fewer than five students the hours are reduced to 15hrs a week; with one student per class they are reduced to 10hrs a week.
Our Italian language courses
The standard Italian language course is suitable for students who wish to improve their overall level of Italian, practising the four basic skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing as well as widen their vocabulary and their understanding of grammar rules.
The combined Italian language course, with 1 hour of extra one-to-one tuition per day combined with the standard course, allows our Italian language school’s student to have his/her individual teacher who can respond to particular needs and interests.
Two hours of individual tuition along with the standard course will help the most exigent among our students to gain the maximum benefit from their study-holiday in Italy. The two hours of individual tuition are devoted in turn to grammar and conversation.
Italian language 50 + Programme at Culturforum provides the perfect setting to learn Italian or improve your existing Italian skills and to meet similar aged students from different countries who share an interest in Italian history, culture, cuisine and daily life.
This course is intended for professionals who already have a basic knowledge of the Italian language and want to improve both their social Italian and the language they need for their professional life and in the interaction with professional partners in Italy.
Private Italian lessons provide the individual attention you need to learn at your own pace, in your own way and at a time that you choose. They are ideal if you want to improve your Italian in one particular area, work on pronunciation or prepare for an interview or exam.
